Wither Hills

When I open my windows overlooking the yard I see them, when I step out the front door, same same, driving to the winery, here they are, the Wither Hills. It’s a working farm, a giant one hosting cows and sheeps, like a lot, like what you expect from New Zealand actually; although it is not private land and the hills are covered in tracks, you can walk for km and km up and down and around, flat, steep, easy, whatever level you wish, you will find it there. I spend quite a bit of time over here(I try to walk uphill!). Gym is fun but is indoor and will never give you a sunrise watched from a lookout coming out from the Ocean, isn’t it? It takes not longer than three minute drive from home to get to one of the two main entrances. These pics are from yesterday, have heaps of them in my folders but want to share the actual season and colours.

It's the cute lambs period of the year.

Endless hills, this is the most common sight when you start to get up.

The little black stick is the only person I met in two hors, quite ideal sometime.
This cow is not happy at all to see me, at least it is on the right side on the fence, the other side!

The only real issue are cows, cows are dangerous and scary and very rude, they stand right in the middle of the gates and you(me) can’t walk in the middle of too many giant cows attemptng to cross a three meters wide gate, don’t you? I ended up walking around  and jumping the fence with the help of a staff and avoiding the ripping-pants fence lines! After that I made it home safe.

What you never want to be crossing your way on a track ? Which tracks do you love? Curious me!

Thank you for sharing my thoughts.

That's what I mean when I say you are still in town but away, Blenheim is down there but you can't see it.

Today I went back from the central section of the hills, there you start spotting CLoudy Bay and Rarangi Beach.

  1. I peeked what you call an experiment to understand what it was, and I read the first post I found: I did not know you were muccofobica and now that I know I’ll give you a hint: if you want to get a cow friend, bring a bit of NaCl (‘re a chemist or not?) unground and offer it to the enemy on the palm of the hand: the cow will follow you at home and make as much milk for you.

    Ciao e buon lavoro

    1. I didn’t know that and now I feel like I should try, turning back on a track is not an option. Thank you for teaching me how to kidnap a cow!
